This year, we were honored to have our very own Girls Who Rule the World Ambassador, Lexi P, grace the cover of ‘Women Own Excellence’ magazine! Lexi P is a Generation Z Beauty Boss, hair care entrepreneur, author, independent publisher and motivational speaker.

Lexi has overcome personal struggles, learned to embrace her natural hair, and now she continues to empower others through her phenomenal hair care brand, “Curlanista”. She is an advocate for building self-confidence and empowering teens to embrace their natural hair. We are extremely proud of Lexi P and we know she will do great things in her future.

National Cares Mentoring Movement: For the Love of Our Children Virtual Gala


We proudly partnered with National CARES and Susan Taylor for the 2021 Virtual Gala. It was an evening of inspiration and entertainment supporting their community-recovery work. National Cares Mentoring Movement works to transform the lives of black children through mentorship programs that support our youth.

Steve Harvey Virtual Mentoring Program

We launched our first Steve Harvey Boys Virtual Mentoring Experience of 2021 for young men ages 14-18. These monthly sessions connected mentors with mentees to help them navigate life during these unprecedented times. 

The one-on-one mentor/mentee relationship offered support to the mentees, helping them realize their full potential educationally, socially, and professionally. We covered various topics pertaining to young men including: manhood, self-esteem, academic excellence, college readiness and so much more!

Dream Hustle Code

We are glad to announce our continued partnership with “Dream Hustle Code” and founder, Ian Michael Brock, a 15-year-old student from Chicago who is cracking the code in cyberspace! Ian teaches students of color personal development and how to write computer code. We are excited to work with Ian for his 2021 after-school program as we continue to impact children of color around the world.

Next Step Education Scholarships

We continued our impactful partnership with Next Step Education, a nonprofit organization geared towards helping high school students tackle college readiness through workshops, boot camps and college tours.

We awarded a total of 12 scholarships to high school seniors that were in need of financial assistance to continue their education. These students were able to use the funds to begin their college matriculation. We send a huge congratulations to our 2021 Next Step Education Scholars!

AP World: NBA All-Star Weekend Shoe Giveaway

We were proud to partner with DeAndre Bembry of the Toronto Raptors and his nonprofit organization AP World to donate shoes to less fortunate children during All Star Weekend 2021. In light of the organization’s mission to “walk in peace”, we donated new shoes to over 500 children across the world, encouraging them to choose peace.

Single Mother's Virtual Meet Up

The goal of the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation Single Mother’s Meetup was to provide single mothers with key principles of success. The tools to empower and encourage personal and professional growth, enabling mothers to effectively raise their young men. This virtual event was streamed live on Facebook and hosted by Mikki Taylor with special guest Bevy Smith and other incredible women.

Girls Who Rule The World Virtual Meet Up

Our goal is to boost the self-esteem of our girls and empower them with the tools needed to serve, innovate, and lead. We believe that exposure is everything in a young person’s life and for that reason we expose our attendees to opportunities and information that they may never otherwise experience. Our hope is that this virtual experience inspired and empowered our girls to dream no matter what their current situation. GWRTW opens our young attendee’s eyes and helps them realize that anything is possible with hard work, dedication, and determination.

This virtual event was hosted by Author, Executive Producer & Editor-At-Large of Essence Magazine, Mikki Taylor and Radio Host and Girl Activist, Maria “MJ” Jordan with featured speakers Chanita Foster, Kim Blackwell, Lexi P, Christi Alexander, Chekera Barrett, Girls Who Rule The World Madison Burns and special guest Monique Rodriguez. The virtual session was filled with engaging and informative sessions, including Entrepreneurship, the Business of Beauty, Branding, and College Prep.

In partnership with Suits For Seniors, a nonprofit organization providing youth with academic assistance, self confidence, and economic empowerment, we held an online scholarship award presentation to highlight this year’s remarkable scholars.

We partnered with the Adrienne Small Foundation, a Memphis, Tennessee nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide educational tools , resources, mentorship, and funding to future beauty professionals ages 13-19. We are proud to be making an impact in our co-chair Marjorie Harvey’s hometown of Memphis by providing young girls access to the world of beauty.

We are glad to continue our partnership with Project Pneuma, a holistic non-profit organization based in downtown Baltimore, MD. The organization is focused on helping young African American males with social emotional learning, forgiveness, and curbing impulse actions from trauma due to adverse childhood experiences.

We partnered with Honey Shine for the 11th Annual Jewell Summit in Miami. The girls enjoyed a day filled with empowering workshops with incredible speakers. Our Ambassador Lexi P empowered our brown girls with her inspirational presentation.

We partnered with 100 Girls of Code Conyers for an exciting STEM camp, where our youth were engaged in fun and interactive learning activities aimed at getting them excited about the worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

Steve Harvey Virtual Mentoring Program Father’s Day Edition

Due to the continued COVID-19 Pandemic, we translated our traditional Steve Harvey Mentoring camp into a virtual program. Hosted by Steve Harvey, this camp offered powerful and inspirational workshops led by leaders across all industries. Some of our guest speakers included Terrence J, Jeezy, Willie Moore Jr., Travis Malloy, and Jae Deal. In addition, the virtual program included a robust conversation entitled “Past the Pain” with Tracy Martin ( Father of Trayvon Martin), Aubrey Wright ( Father of Daunte Wright), Michael Brown (Father of Michael Brown) and hosted by Steve Harvey.

Fundraiser: Golf Invitational

In benefit of the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation Scholarship Fund, the Foundation Fundraiser Golf Invitational event was established to help fulfill the mission to provide outreach to children and young adults by promoting educational enrichment, mentoring, and global service initiatives that will cultivate the next generation of responsible leaders. This 2-Day event was Presented by Lexus and held at Bear’s Best in Atlanta, GA. Special Guests this year included comedian and actor Chris Tucker, NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, Former NBA Stars Dikembe Mutombo and Vernon Maxwell, PGA Champion Jim Thorpe, World Long Drive competitor Troy Mullins, author and activist Tamika Mallory, entertainment reporter A.J Calloway and many more!

We were proud to partner again this year with Chicago Public Schools for the ‘Her Virtual Empowerment Summit’. This was a day full of powerful sessions with incredible women who poured into our girls. Our own Executive Director, Sharon Page, had the pleasure of introducing Valerie Jarrett, NYT bestselling author, businesswoman, advocate for equality & justice, and Sr. Advisor to former President Barack Obama.

Scholarship Program

We were so glad to make this dream come true for 13-year old child protege, Caleb Anderson. Caleb met Mr. Harvey this summer and we’re excited to announce that Caleb started as a Freshman at Georgia Tech. We are incredibly proud of Caleb and glad to be able to award him a Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation Scholarship! Stay tuned for more history in the making.

Adrienne Small Foundation

We were proud to partner with The Adrienne Small Foundation for their 3rd Annual GirlPreneur Beauty Camp in Memphis, Tennessee. For 5 days, the foundation welcomed 50 teens, ages 13-19 and prepared them for a week full of hands-on sessions in hair, aesthetics, and business workshops. It is an honor to partner with an organization impacting the next generation of beauty leaders!

We partnered again this year with Next Step Education to host the 8th Annual Next Step College Fair. High School students and their supporters were invited to join our virtual platform and meet with college admissions teams from all over the country. Girls Who Rule The World Meet Up

Girls Who Rule the World (GWRTW) was designed to enhance young girls’ development and provide a forum for them to express themselves. Our mission is to empower young girls, show them the importance of a positive self-image, and provide them with tools to innovate, lead, and serve. This is accomplished through educational enrichment, exposure, and mentoring. At the 2021 Girls Who Rule the World Meet Up in Atlanta, the dynamic weekend was filled with engaging and informative sessions including: Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, College Readiness, Mental Health, Physical Fitness, the Business of Beauty, creating vision boards, & so much more! We would like to thank our sponsors: Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Chick-Fil-A, Coca-Cola, and Target for believing in our vision to cultivate the next generation of leaders and making this weekend possible.

Steve Harvey Virtual Mentoring Program

We kicked off the 6-month Virtual Mentoring Program with young men joining from Indonesia, South Africa, Nigeria, Germany, U.K, Trinidad, Tobago, France, and all over the United States! Our speakers Jahki Jackson and Oruonyika Ifeanyl Shedrack instilled in our attendees that they are never too young to make a difference. This Virtual Program also connects mentors with mentees to help them navigate through life during these unprecedented times. These one-on-one mentor/mentee relationships offer support to the mentees, helping them realize their full potential – educationally, socially, and professionally. In response to COVID-19, the Foundation created this virtual platform and has covered various topics fundamental to young men. These have included the issues of manhood, self-esteem, academic excellence, and college readiness to name a few. This global mentoring experience has impacted the lives of thousands across more than thirty five countries whilst redefining the massive change that is possible through mentoring during the digital age.

Unicorn Ambition Conference

For the third year, we supported the Black Men Talk Tech Unicorn Ambition Conference- a national tech conference, which seeks to provide exposure and resources to young Black tech founders who are building “unicorns,” while highlighting Miami and South Florida as an emerging tech hub. SMHF partnered again with Black Men in Tech to increase the exposure that our young men have in technology.

Figure Skating in Harlem

We are honored to support Figure Skating in Harlem (FSH). For the past four decades, Figure Skating in Harlem and Ice Hockey in Harlem has worked to bring students from underserved New York City communities onto the ice while supporting them in the classroom. As the only organization across all five boroughs to leverage ice-based sports to promote educational achievement, FSH supports thousands of children as they develop into confident young adults, both on and off the ice.

100 Girls of Code Conyers Virtual Fall STEM Camp

A sequel to our 100 Girls of Code Summer Camp, the 100 Girls of Code Virtual Fall STEM camp was another great interactive learning experience focused on coding. We inspired young women to pursue a future in STEM by providing them with the opportunity to create and gain confidence in the STEM field. The girls learned about artificial intelligence, alginate beads, how to teach their computer to play games, and much more! Special thanks to Danithea Ward and her team for their outstanding commitment to STEM.

Grant Recipient Highlights

Our chairman, Steve Harvey, is adamant about paying it forward. This year we surprised non-profits from all over the United States with grants to further their programs. These grant recipients work in communities locally, nationally, and internationally. The recipients included: Next Step Education, Fabulous on Purpose, Beyond the Game, The B-Relyt Organization, Silence the Shame, Careers in Sports, Suits for Seniors, Figure Skating in Harlem, Vontelle Eyewear, Women in Need, Save a Girl, Save a World, Ambassadors of Change, My Friends House, Utopian Academy, and Higher Ground to name a few. We are blessed to help them continue to service their communities. Thank you all for your commitment to our communities.

College Gurl Foundation

In partnership with the College Gurl Foundation, Inc.,“The Promise Tour” was designed to expose high school students around the country to different colleges, careers, locations, and mentoring opportunities to increase their chances of obtaining a post-secondary education. The annual CollegeGurl College Tour was a huge success! We’re elated to partner with this organization and provide these students with a once in a lifetime experience.

Single Mothers' Enrichment Summit

The Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation Single Mothers’ Enrichment Summit was created to empower and provide single mothers with the tools needed to successfully navigate through motherhood, professional careers, relationships, self-care, and so much more. We know many of our Single Moms have been through many trials and tribulations in the last 18 months, this was a day of enrichment and love for our Single Parents. This event was hosted by Author, Executive Producer & Editor-At-Large of Essence Magazine, Mikki Taylor and featured guest speakers, Malik Yoba, Nicci Gilbert-Daniels, Lisa Nicole Cloud, Zane, Dr. Troy Byer, Tracy Wilson Mourning, Germaine Bolds-Leftridge, Paula Orr, MD, and Gia Tejeda. The event was streamed live on the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation’s Facebook platform and reached over 160,000 people online. We would like to thank our Presenting Partner: JPMorgan Chase & Co, Chick-Fil-A, Coca-Cola, Microsoft and Target for believing in our vision to cultivate the mothers of the next generation of leaders and making this weekend possible.

We partnered with the Atlanta Community Food Bank this winter to provide thousands of meals for families in need during the holidays. This is a critical time for those Georgians facing food insecurity during this holiday season.

Hosea Helps Inc.

We partnered with Hosea Helps to Feed 1,000 Families this Thanksgiving Holiday! We were proud to partner with Hosea Helps to bridge the gap in this historic holiday event. The event was a two-fold holiday giving extravaganza. This was the first time in history that Hosea Helps received in-kind donations and distributed food boxes and supplies simultaneously.

Alabama Give Back

This Thanksgiving we were happy to support Lanier Poet Nation PTSA in Montgomery, AL. They are the primary advocacy organization for parents, faculty, administration, students, and the surrounding community of Sidney Lanier High School. Their purpose is to promote the welfare of youth at home, school, in the community, and places of worship and are responsible for securing adequate laws for their care and protection.

YMCA Christmas Toy Drive

SMHF continued the partnership with the YMCA to assist with their Community Toy Drive for youth and families in underprivileged communities; SMHF and the YMCA distributed toys and food to families in need.

New Birth Church Christmas Outreach

We partnered again this year with Pastor Jamal Bryant and the New Birth Church to help thousands of under-privileged Atlanta children during the Christmas holiday. We provided gifts for over 1,000 underserved children in South DeKalb County and the greater Atlanta community. In addition to receiving toys, 100 youth in foster care also received new travel gear to hold their belongings, toiletries, and specially curated gifts. Many of the children we helped are still dealing with the painful effects of COVID-19.

We look forward to continuing to make an impact and doing the work.
