During the Sand & Soul Festival, we honored two individuals with the 2019 Harvey’s Hero Award. Attorney Benjamin Crump for his social and political activism and fight for civil rights in the community … and Sheila Johnson-Smith for her providing a safe place for the orphaned boys and girls of Freeport, Bahamas at the Grand Bahama Children’s Home for over 40 years. We also pledged a $75,000 donation to help rebuild the children’s home after the destruction caused by Hurrican Dorian.
